Proud Partner of Supercare Pharmacies

MyOnlineClinic is proud to be supporting the Victorian Government Supercare Pharmacies Initiative.

The Victorian Government Supercare Pharmacies Initiative combines a 24-hour a day seven days a week pharmacy service and an evening nursing service between 6pm and 10pm. These pharmacies are known as Supercare Pharmacies.

The Victorian Government has committed $28.7 million to introduce 20 Supercare Pharmacies by 2018. This initiative is designed to help families, shift workers and others in need of non-emergency care after hours.

Supercare Pharmacies provide round-the-clock access to pharmacists for advice, supply of medicines and dispensing of prescriptions. Along with vaccinations and a chronic disease management pilot. Pharmacists will also be able to administer adult whooping cough vaccinations from 2017.

The first five Supercare Pharmacies were opened at the Ascot Vale Pharmacy, Amcal Pharmacy Craigieburn, Pharmacy@Knox in Wantirna South, Carnovale Pharmacy in Yarraville and UFS Dispensaries in Ballarat. The initiative will see 20 Supercare Pharmacies open to the public by 2018.

This service is not intended to replace doctors or the need to visit an emergency department if people need a higher level of care. It is a go-to option for face-to-face health advice and treatment for minor injuries or illness without appointments.

Minister Hennesey said, “It can be an awful feeling when your child gets sick in the evening – with everything shut it’s often a choice between sticking it out or a trip to emergency. Our new Supercare Pharmacies will give parents another option and more peace of mind, knowing that round-the-clock care is now available close to home and when they need it.”

One of the first Supercare Pharmacies in Ascot Vale will make a big difference for local families and help take the pressure off busy emergency departments.
